FAQs: Long Beach Upgrade

This project will take place within our facility off Park Place and Riverside Boulevard in Long Beach, NY.

The work involves excavating, installing, and upgrading our infrastructure within the facility to modernize our system.

We are making investments to reinforce the local distribution system in your neighborhood to ensure our Long Island customers receive safe and reliable energy service. This project will build a more reliable local natural energy system by reinforcing local underground infrastructure. 

Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4PM*, occasional weekend work may be necessary to support specific project activities.

Yes. Our top priority is the safety of our customers, the public, employees, and contractors. The professional construction firms we work with also place safety as their top priority. 

No. This work will be managed so that service interruption will not be an issue. 

Phase one: March 2024 to September 2024

Phase two: September 2024 through October 2024, pausing for winter heating season, and resuming Spring 2026 through Fall 2026.

No. There will be increased truck traffic on Park Place and Riverside Boulevard, but no additional traffic impacts at this time.

No. Our work is within a gated National Grid property located at Park Place and Riverside Boulevard in Long Beach, NY.

While our contractors will make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as contractors use heavy equipment to trench ahead of the infrastructure work and increased truck traffic near Park Place and Riverside Boulevard.
