FAQs: Grasmere Upgrade Project
Construction will begin in mid-March and is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2026. Regular schedule updates will be posted online. Check back weekly for news and updates.
Primarily within National Grid’s fenced-in facility at the north end of the shopping center parking lot, near the intersection of Mosel Avenue and Sable Avenue in Staten Island, NY.
These station upgrades will require the use of excavators, vacuum trucks, and other heavy equipment, which may result in higher-than-usual noise emanating from the facility. The project includes excavations, installation of new equipment, and building restoration.

Yes. National Grid’s top priority is the safety of its customers, the general public, and its employees and contractors. The professional construction firms we work with also place safety as their top priority.
No. This work will be managed so that service interruption will not be an issue.
The shopping center’s north driveway off Mosel Avenue will be closed periodically during work hours. Traffic on surrounding streets will not be impacted.
No. The majority of work will take place within the National Grid facility, with additional work at the north end of the shopping center parking lot.
While we make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as we use heavy equipment to trench.
