Phase Three Overview
The Solar Phase III initiative is the most advanced renewable energy project yet, focused on maximizing the benefits of distributed generation by using smart technologies and state-of-the-art integration strategies. This initiative consists of 14 MW of solar generation in the form of parking canopies, solar tracking systems, and ground-mount systems coupled with smart inverters, mobile and stationary battery storage, and custom feeder monitoring systems. By implementing and studying these advanced systems, National Grid hopes to progress the development of renewable energy worldwide, while modernizing the company’s own distribution system to maximize the reliability, efficiency, and resiliency of the company’s electricity services. By the end of 2021, these facilities will be fully constructed and interconnected, and National Grid will own one of the most advanced network of renewable distributed generation on the eastern seaboard.
