The proposed project will address the need for improved communications, network resiliency, and protection reliability by installing fiber optic communications to the existing shield wire. The proposed installation will occur along the approximately 7-mile-long segment of overhead power lines that crosses Oxford Street N, Interstate 290, Southbridge Street, Interstate 90 in Auburn and MA Route 146, Millbury Avenue, Carousel Drive, and Grafton Street in Millbury.
