FAQs: South Commack Upgrade Project
Construction will begin on or about February 18, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2025. Two additional phases of construction are scheduled for Spring 2026 and Spring 2027, to be completed in Summer 2026 and Summer 2027, respectively. Regular schedule updates will be posted online. Check back weekly for news and updates.
Within National Grid’s fenced-in facility on New Highway, between Commack Road and Harned Road, in Commack NY.
These station upgrades will require the use of excavators, vacuum trucks, and other heavy equipment, which may result in higher than usual noise emanating from the facility. The project includes excavations, installation of new equipment, crane lifts, backfilling, and restoration of the site.

While we make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as we use heavy equipment to trench.
