FAQs: Riverhead Facility Upgrade

The Riverhead Facility Upgrade Project will be completed in two phases.

Phase 1: Demolition of existing buildings and foundation, rebuilding the existing facility and adding 13 more truck stations to the existing truck loading area.

Phase 2: Upgrading existing regulator stations and operations building within the facility.

The benefits of these upgrades include improving the local system’s integrity and ability to support customers in colder weather months and increasing the operational efficiency of the facility by building a new maintenance and control building for our staff.

While our contractors will make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as contractors use heavy equipment to demolish the existing buildings and foundations and trench ahead of infrastructure installation.
