About the Project
National Grid is preparing for an infrastructure improvement project in the towns of Charlemont and Heath. The purpose of the project is to address a poor-performing regional feeder by replacing and upgrading existing poles, reconductoring existing lines, and installing a new pole line along Burrington Road in Heath. This project is part of National Grid’s ongoing work to bolster reliability in our electrical system.
The roughly 10-mile project limits are bounded north by Heath Center, then continue south along South Road, then head south along Burrington Road towards the Mohawk Trail, it then crosses the Deerfield River, then continue west along South River Road and West Hawly Road, and then ending at the intersection of the Rt 8A south bridge and the Mohawk Trail in Charlemont.
Project Benefit:
- Reduce brown outs and extended outages
- Improve regional capacity
