The Ayer Substation Project will replace, refurbish, and upgrade the existing substation’s infrastructure as well as update the connection between the two recently replaced transmission line poles and the substation. This substation was originally constructed in the 1940’s with many of its existing assets still in service today. National Grid will be investing approximately 80 million dollars into this refurbishment, which will strengthen the region’s electrical transmission system.

The Project will also involve:

• Expansion of the substation’s eastern limits towards Bishop Road and Park Street.
• Ongoing distribution line work along Bishop Road and Park Street
