Why heat pumps?
Listen to our expert Jenny Cross as she explains the available incentives and benefits of installing heat pump equipment.
How much could I save?
Heat Pump incentives vary depending on many factors like type of heat pump (ground source or air source, ducted or non-ducted, etc.), brand, equipment size or capacity, baseline incentive and total project cost among others.
Incentives are calculated using the heat pump system capacity (Btu/h) and baseline incentive for each type of project, and capped at 50% of the project costs, including equipment and installer fees. Use the table below for reference.
Total Heating Btu/h x Baseline $ Incentive = Total $ Incentive
For a limited time, you may qualify to receive not only double the incentive on geothermal heat pumps but a $1,500 bonus to make them more affordable than ever. Simply sign an installation commitment with a NYS Clean Heat participating contractor by March 1, 2025 and submit the completed project application by December 5, 2025.
Only NYS Clean Heat Participating Contractors are authorized to process your rebate. Find Participating Contractors to effectively determine the best equipment and capacity to meet your home needs and provide project and incentive estimates.
Note:
- Heat pump equipment incentives are only available to National Grid electric service customers.
- Heat pump equipment incentives are capped at 50% of the project costs, including equipment and installer fees.
- Total incentive for heating equipment includes a Participating Contractor incentive up to $500, which the contractor is entitled to but may choose to offer to the customer
Limited-time: Stack up the savings.
Take advantage of all the other ways these all-in-one systems could be more affordable for your budget, from generous rebates and limited-time offers on all qualifying equipment to low-interest financing options and federal tax credits, plus special incentives if you live in priority electrification areas.
How do heat pumps work?
During the colder months, heat pumps take heat from the outside air and transfer it into your home. During the warmer months, they keep your home cool by pulling heat from inside your home and transferring it outside.
How old is your current equipment?
Check the age and health of your current heating and water-heating equipment - because nobody wants to experience a breakdown in the middle of winter.
Use this chart to see if you should upgrade your water heater, furnace or boiler to a high-efficiency heat pump.
Type of Equipment | Average Effective Unit Life Span (Years) |
---|---|
Water Heater | 10-15 |
Air Conditioner | 15-20 |
Combination Boiler-Furnace | 20 |
Furnace (Gas) | 22 |
Steam Boiler (Steel Fire Tube) | 25 |
