Melville, NY – National Grid is proud to announce its partnership with Feeding NY, an initiative of the Dream Big Foundation, to provide Thanksgiving meals for 2,500 families on Long Island. For the first time Feeding NY held their event on Long Island hosted by National Grid at their facility. This collaboration marks a significant step in addressing food insecurity in the region, ensuring that families can come together to celebrate the holiday with a meal they can be proud of.

Tractor trailers rolled into National Grid’s Melville office delivering fresh food and turkeys. Over 200 National Grid employee volunteers, alongside students from St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip, packed the food into meal boxes destined for local food pantries and organizations across Long Island.

A Powerful Community Effort
“At National Grid, we are deeply connected to the communities we serve,” said Clara Guistino, Vice President of Complex Construction at National Grid and volunteer. “It’s inspiring to see so many of our employees and local students come together to support this incredible initiative. Today, we’ve packed 2,500 meals—providing families with more than just food; we’re delivering hope, pride, and the opportunity to create lasting memories with their loved ones.”

Feeding NY, which has delivered over 100,000 meals to families in New York since its inception, continues to grow in its impact. This year, the program will provide 10,000 Thanksgiving meals, with 2,500 distributed on Long Island and 7,500 in New York City.

“We are so grateful to National Grid for partnering with Feeding NY,” said Rob Locasico, Founder and CEO of Dream Big and Feeding NY.  “We have been looking for the right partner and facility to host this event and expand it to Long Island. This is part of the dream to reach more people in need especially on Long Island where I was born and raised.”

Tackling Food Insecurity on Long Island
Food insecurity remains a significant challenge for Long Islanders, affecting thousands of families. National Grid’s partnership with Feeding NY reflects the company’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and addressing immediate needs while working toward long-term solutions to end hunger.
Employee and Student Involvement

National Grid employees and community volunteers played an essential role in Monday’s event. From assembling boxes to distributing meals, their dedication underscores National Grid’s ongoing commitment to giving back.  A group of high school students joined National Grid employees in preparing for the drive, showcasing the next generation’s commitment to service and community engagement.

National Grid and Feeding NY share a common goal: to drive social and economic mobility while addressing the root causes of food insecurity. Together, their collaboration is creating a brighter, more equitable future for Long Island families.

“We are honored to partner with Feeding NY to make a difference in the lives of so many families,” said Brian Sapp, Director of External Affairs, National Grid. “National Grid is committed to helping our Long Island community thrive—not just during Thanksgiving, but throughout the year.”
