National Grid and the Barclays Center Partner in “Trees for Threes” Making the Community Greener
Categories:
The Brooklyn Nets/Barclays Center and National Grid are working together to make local communities greener. With the “Trees for Threes” partnership, a tree is planted for every three-pointer the Brooklyn Nets, Long Island Nets, New York Liberty, and Nets GC score at a home game.
National Grid won the Community Hero of the Game, for the “Trees for Threes” efforts. Alex Paoli, Program Manager for Project C and Marcus Houston, Senior Analyst, were proud to accept the award on center court on behalf of National Grid. Project C is a National Grid program focused on community commitment and engagement, helping neighborhoods where they need it most.
In the past year, over 180 native trees and shrubs have been planted by National Grid and Nets employees, with another 3500 tree planting kits being donated to fans across Brooklyn and Long Island.
“We are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center with the ‘Trees for Threes’ program,” said Brian Sapp, Director of External Affairs, National Grid. “National Grid is committed to protecting the environment, and there is no better way to make an immediate impact than to plant trees in the communities we serve. We are honored to be the Community Partner of the Game.”
National Grid is the official energy partner of the Brooklyn Nets.
At the end of the season, National Grid and Brooklyn Sports Entertainment Global, together with community partners in the greater Brooklyn neighborhood, will work to plant trees and gardens, make tree donations, and commit volunteer hours to clean parks and community green spaces equal to the total number of 3-pointers made by all teams within BSE Global.
“Together we can help enrich our environment and provide green spaces for generations to come,” said Sapp.
