WALTHAM, MA – With kids heading back to school and cooler weather on the horizon, National Grid wants customers to take control of their home’s energy efficiency and schedule an in-person or virtual Home Energy Assessment to find ways to save on energy usage and bills.

Through the No-Cost Home Energy Assessment, National Grid sets customers up with an energy specialist who will create a customized energy report and provide no-cost energy-saving products, such as advanced power strips, low-flow showerheads, and programmable thermostats for installation in a home.

“With winter energy rates expected to increase this winter, creating challenges for many families, now is the time to get an energy assessment done,” said John Isberg, Vice President of Customer Solutions for National Grid New England.  “Customers who get an assessment can put in place measures that can save them on their energy bills as our New England weather turns cooler.”

Based on the Home Energy Assessment report, customers may also be eligible for:

  • 75 percent or more off approved insulation improvements and no-cost targeted air sealing, which lower energy costs and improve the efficiency of heating and cooling systems
  • Rebates of up to $2,750 on qualifying energy-efficient heating, cooling and water-heating equipment
  • Information on how to qualify for a 0 percent interest loan for eligible energy-efficiency improvements

The value of home weatherization installation for National Grid customers through a Home Energy Assessment is on average over $4,000.

Massachusetts customers are eligible for the assessments if they live in a one- to four-unit home.

Interested customers can call 1-866-527-SAVE (7283). More information is available at: https://www.nationalgridus.com/MA-Home/Energy-Saving-Programs/Home-Energy-Assessments

National Grid remains committed to providing customers a variety of energy-saving tips and billing options to help offset the expected increases in this winter’s energy prices. Customers in need of billing assistance or additional support can visit ngrid.com/winter to learn more.
