Brooklyn Greenway Initiative ‘Bike to the Ballgame’ is a Hit with National Grid Support

National Grid sponsored the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative 'Bike to the Ballgame' public engagement event, helping make it the event “a huge success,” as noted in a thank you note from the organization’s leadership.
The event kicked off with a festival offering free bicycle services, music, refreshments, and giveaways – including 55 new bike helmets and water bottles to keep community-members safe and hydrated on their two-wheel adventures. In addition, 12 children who live in Brooklyn communities considered transit deserts, received new bicycles to help them get around. With safety always a top priority, the children received safe riding tips before pedaling away, and they were outfitted with safety gear including front and back lights, bells and helmets.
After the festival, bikers rode 6.5 miles on the Greenway waterfront path from Bay Ridge to Coney Island to take in the Cyclones ballgame or just to enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk.
