Company applauds customers for outstanding participation in energy efficiency programs; their contribution to this accolade

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the third year in a row, Boston has been ranked the most energy efficient city in America by The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). In a report released recently, the organization credited the city’s utilities for offering innovative energy efficiency programs, citing them as a key factor in reducing energy waste.

The ACEEE specifically applauded National Grid for its multifaceted approach to engaging Boston’s diverse neighborhoods, noting that the company offers energy efficiency programs designed for every budget, residential and business need.

The City of Boston received a perfect score for its energy and water utility programs. The report noted that among contributing factors to this score were National Grid’s and other local utilities’

  • Substantial investments in electricity and natural gas efficiency programs
  • Comprehensive low-income and multifamily programs
  • Accessibility to energy data

“Kudos to Mayor Walsh for his leadership in this area and to our customers for their robust interest and enrollment in the programs we offer. Customers know that they and the environment are direct beneficiaries when they sign on for energy savings measures,” said Marcy Reed, president of National Grid Massachusetts. Last October, the ACEEE named Massachusetts the most energy efficient state for the sixth consecutive year.
