National Grid Participates in AEC 2016 Advanced Energy Conference with Foremost Energy Experts

Apr 21, 2016

BROOKLYN N.Y. – National Grid executives will be among the foremost energy experts who will discuss the future of the electric utility industry, Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) demonstration projects, microgrids, distributed generation and other clean and renewable energy solutions at the AEC 2016 Advanced Energy Conference.

Ken Daly, President, National Grid New York, will participate in the panel session on the “Future of the Electric Utility Industry – Challenges and Opportunities.” The panel discussion will take place on Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

“National Grid is playing a leadership role in supporting New York’s REV agenda,” Daly said. “We need to ensure that our energy becomes cleaner, more efficient, resilient and reliable – all while offering customers more choices and more control. Our Connect21 strategy is our plan to cost-effectively meet our customers’ 21st energy century demands. We are delivering a balanced approach, which includes strategic partnerships, smart infrastructure investments, innovative technologies, continued environmental stewardship, and progressive rate making.”

In addition, Dennis Elsenbeck, Director, National Grid New Energy Solutions, will serve on the panel discussion about clean energy demo projects that are part of New York’s REV strategy. National Grid’s Neighborhood Solar project was among the first REV projects announced. Neighborhood Solar will help low-to moderate-income customers’ access clean energy while reducing arrears through a neighborhood solar project in Western New York. National Grid is also looking at REV-like proposals to leverage the use of its natural gas infrastructure that integrate safety, reliability and innovative ways to support customer energy demand.

“Each of our proposed projects will help us build new business models, better serve our customers and create new opportunities for market participants,” Elsenbeck said. “Our New Energy Solutions team is dedicated to delivering the innovations and technologies in the demonstration projects.”

Additional National Grid speakers include: Phil Austen – “MicroGrids and Distributed Generation” and Karsten Barde – “Alternative Transportation Fuels.”

The AEC conference, now in its ninth year, is produced by the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) at Stony Brook University and will take place at New York City’s Jacob Javits Center. National Grid is a sponsor of the event which includes panel discussions, keynote addresses and a tradeshow.
