With Colder Temperatures Expected This Weekend, National Grid Reminds Customers of Bill Management Options

Feb 11, 2016

Upstate New Yorkers have experienced a milder winter compared to previous years, but the single-digit temperatures forecasted for this weekend are a reminder that there are plenty of cold days and nights left in this heating season. Cold-weather energy costs remain a major portion of household budgets, and National Grid wants customers to know that they have options to reduce energy use and manage their bills this winter.

National Grid’s energy-cost management programs include:

  • Billing/Payment Options– The Budget Plan helps to spread out payments more evenly across the year. For customers on fixed incomes, this option is particularly helpful.
  • Energy Efficiency Programs– Energy efficiency remains one of the most effective ways to lower energy consumption and bills. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of the many National Grid energy efficiency programs available, from quick energy tips to energy efficiency home audits and installments. • Deferred Payment Agreement– Customers who have fallen behind on payments and can’t pay their gas or electricity bills in full may qualify to pay the past-due balance over time. Customers can find more information about billing and payments here.

Some customers also may qualify for emergency government or non-profit funds to cover their energy bills. For more information, call National Grid Customer Service at 1-800-642-4272.
