We recently teamed up with MyHEAT to establish the Home Heat Loss Awareness Program in Massachusetts. During the program, customers will have access to personalized insights about their home's heat loss through a secure portal provided by MyHEAT.
We want to provide our customers with tools like this that help you better understand energy use and connect you to energy-efficient solutions.
Frequently Asked Questions
MyHEAT is a technology company that uses aerial thermal infrared images of rooftops to help customers assess heat loss and visually pinpoint where heat may be escaping from their homes.
MyHEAT offers an educational platform that helps customers see their home’s heat loss from a bird’s-eye view, compare it to similar homes in their area, and connect them to energy-efficiency programs through National Grid’s sponsorship of Mass Save®, such as a no-cost Home Energy Assessment, weatherization incentives of 75 to 100% off insulation, and new heat pump heating and cooling technology that helps keep your home comfortable all year long.
We have teamed up with MyHEAT to promote awareness of energy efficiency and help customers save energy as part of a new program. Not all residents will be able to access home heat loss details during the program period.

Thermal data was collected using a world-class sensor in January 2023 for homes within the program area. Data is collected with a plane at night when the outside temperature is right around freezing. The collection method is similar to how Google Maps are created and MyHEAT's sensor cannot see into homes or through structures to preserve the privacy of customers.
With thermal data, MyHEAT identifies where heat loss is occurring from a bird’s-eye view. This is done using machine learning algorithms, and the final result is the creation of unique heat loss ratings and heat loss maps for individual buildings–offered to customers through an educational platform.
