Construction Information
All the construction of the liquefaction facility will be within the existing property of the Fields Point LNG storage facility. We will not be increasing the footprint of the property.
- Consists of above-ground equipment installed on foundations. Equipment not typically installed outdoors will be within steel buildings. Excavation will be limited to only what is required to properly install the foundations. The location of the work will be distant from the public, well within National Grid’s property and all construction noise and traffic will meet local ordinance requirements.
- There are no trees or natural growth in the area where the liquefier is constructed. No vegetation or trees were removed.
- The new equipment is consistent in appearance with what already exists on-site.
- National Grid is engaging our neighbors and state and local officials to ensure that the concerns of the community are addressed.
- Construction at the Fields Point facility began in 2019. National Grid followed the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) pre-filing process for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. The FERC process follows a prescribed schedule listed here
